What is Baptism?

Baptism is the beginning of a new life in faith.

Baptism is the sign of new life in Christ. Baptism unites Christ with
his people. That union is both individual and corporate. Christians
are, it is true, baptized one by one, but to be a Christian is to be part of
a new creation which rises from the dark waters of Christ’s death into
the dawn of his risen life. Christians are not just baptized individuals;
they are a new humanity.

The meaning of baptism could be boiled down to one word, that word would be identification. Baptism speaks primarily of a personal, public identification with Jesus Christ.

Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? Therefore we have been buried with him by baptism into death, so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.

Romans 6:3-4 New Revised Standard Version

Baptism is for children, youth and adults.  It is the sign and sacrament of our new life in Christ. People of all ages are welcome to be baptized at Trinity.

Baptisms are administered at the regular Sunday service of worship. Prior to the baptism, candidates and parents will meet with the Parish priest to look at the service, hear some helpful ideas on living as a Christian, and answer your questions.

Parents, you want the best for your child. And so does God! Baptism is an important first step in your child’s Christian walk. Parents who present their children for Baptism are saying:

“We are striving to live the Christian faith, and to do so within the family of Jesus’ believers. We want it for our child. We will use and celebrate our faith; and we will teach our child to do the same.”
