The Prayers of the People

Leader: We pray for the Church throughout the world, and in our Diocese we pray today for Holy Trinity, Pembroke, Good Shepherd, Barrhaven, and for the Ecumenical-Interfaith Officer.  In our Companion Diocese of Jerusalem we pray for the East Jerusalem YMCA.   For John our bishop, for all bishops, for Arran our Priest and for all the clergy and people, let us pray to the Lord.

People: Lord, hear our prayer.

Leader: We would be empty without God’s gifts, and we would be selfish if we kept them to ourselves.

People: Teach us to love and share your gift of peace, we pray you, 0 Lord.

Leader: Teach us to love and share your gift of mind, we pray you, 0 Lord.

People: Teach us to love and share your gift of life, we pray you, 0 Lord.

Leader: Do not leave us to merchants of war, lies and death, we pray you, 0 Lord.

People: Teach us to cherish all truth that is not ours, and all life that is not ours, we pray you, 0 Lord.

Leader: Hear our prayers for all those in need.  We pray for the sick and the suffering, especially (insert names), and those we name silently or aloud (pause).  We remember those who have died, especially (insert names), and those we name silently or aloud (pause).

People: You enter our lives, 0 God, by the gift of yourself. Teach us to be generous, and to call others to generosity. We pray through Christ, our teacher and brother. Amen.
