Welcome to Trinity!  If this is your first visit, please note that we do not take a collection during the service, but your offering may be placed on the plate at the back of the church as you enter or leave.  Also, there are many occasions during the service where we stand for lengthy periods.  If you are more comfortable sitting or kneeling, please feel free to do so.

We Respond to God’s Word

Homily                                              The Ven. David Selzer

The Prayers of the People:

Leader: Christ, the stone which the builders rejected, God has made the cornerstone of a new community.

People: In the name of Christ by which we are founded, let us draw near in confidence.

Leader: We pray today for our Companion Diocese of Jerusalem, the Church of the Good Shepherd, Salt. As we move forward in our GIFT campaign, we pray O God that we remember that it is from you that every gift derives. You taught us that to serve you is to serve others.  We ask that you continue to bless and sanctify the Growing in Faith Together campaign as an act of our faithfulness to you and that you will lead us continue growing in faith together.  For the needs of the whole Church that we name silently or aloud (pause). For John our Bishop, for all bishops, for Andrea our Priest, for all the clergy and people.  The risen Christ opened the minds of the disciples to understand the scriptures.

People: May the church find in the scriptures healing, mission, and good news for all. For this let us pray to the Lord.

Leader: Christ showed wounded hands and feet to his unbelieving apostles.

People: May we see the risen one in all the wounded of our world. For this let us pray to the Lord.

Leader: Christ our cornerstone intercedes for us before God.

People: Let us and all in authority heed God’s call for justice in the church, in our community, and in the nation. For this let us pray to the Lord.

Leader: We are saved by a God who is light, in whom there is no darkness at all. Let us beg for God’s light in those places which seem darkest. Let us ask that God enlighten all who inflict darkness on others.

People: Let us ask that God shine on those who are victims of evil. For this let us pray to the Lord.

Leader: Within our Parish we pray for the sick and the suffering, especially (insert names), and for those we name silently or aloud (pause).  In the power of Christ’s name we are healed.

People: Let us recall all who need healing and all in the healing professions. For them let us pray to the Lord.

Leader: We remember those who have died, especially (insert names), for those we name silently or aloud (pause).  Loving God, you have glorified your Son Jesus and given him the name by which we are saved.

People: Give us the courage to act in his name. Accept our praise, offered in his name, for we offer this pray through and with and in Jesus, your Son and our Savior. Amen.

We Celebrate The Presence Of Jesus

Offertory Hymn: Risen

This joyful Eastertide,
away with sin and sorrow
My Lord the Crucified,
has sprung to life this morrow

Had Christ, that once was slain,
not burst his three-day prison,
our faith would be in vain;
but now is Christ arisen,
He is risen!
Christ the Lord is risen!

Death’s flood has lost it’s chill,
since Jesus crossed the river:
Lover of souls, from ill
my passing soul deliver

My flesh in hope shall rest,
and for a season slumber,
till trumpet east to west
shall wake the dead in number

Announcements

THE CRANMER SINGERS, under the direction of Frances MacDonnell, will sing Evensong at Trinity TONIGHT AT 5:00 P.M.  Please plan to join us for this wonderful music-filled service.

TRINITY’S SPRING CLEANING will be held on Saturday, May 12th, 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. We’d sure appreciate everyone’s help in giving our church a good cleaning inside and out.  Don’t like to clean?  Come join us and see how much fun we can have!

THE GREAT TRINITY BOOK SALE will be held in Bender Hall on Saturday, May 5th, from 9:30 to 3:00.  To make it ‘great’, we need lots of items —novels, mysteries, classics, romances, ‘book club books’, cookbooks, gardening books, books for children, CDs, etc.  Please bring them in any time after Easter, from April 10th to May 3rd. (It is hard to sort items brought in at the last minute.  And sadly, some books just won’t sell—encyclopedia sets, text books, manuals, magazines.  Please don’t bring these; recycle them elsewhere.)

HELP WANTED: If you can help sort books in the week before the sale, help set up on the evening of Friday, May 4th, or help during the actual sale (either a morning or an afternoon shift) please speak to Sue or Bob Taylor (613-230-3903), or Paul Merriam (613-730-7581).

TRINITY WILL BE HOLDING AN OLD FASHIONED CHURCH RUMMAGE SALE on June 2nd.  Doing your spring cleaning?  Bring us any jewellery, household items in good condition, and clean gently used clothing, linens and toys that you no longer want.  The better quality the item, the better it sells!  For more information please contact Paul Merriam (613-730-7581) or Nancy Bassam (613-731-5086).

PLEASE SIGN UP TO HOST THE COFFEE AND FELLOWSHIP HOUR after Sunday morning services. The sign-up sheet is on the notice board in Bender Hall.

CHANGE FOR CHANGE.  Don’t forget to drop all your spare change into the World Vision bucket for Sheila. Check the scrap book for the latest updates on her progress.

If you have any announcement that didn’t make this week’s bulletin, please let Rev. Andrea know prior to the service and she will ensure that it is read.
