The Prayers of the People

Leader: Through our baptism we are joined to Christ as God’s beloved children. As sisters and brothers in the Spirit, let us call to God for the needs of the world and the church. For those named in the Anglican Cycle of Prayer, in our Diocesan Prayer Calendar, and in our Parish Prayer Calendar we pray today for Christ Church, Aylmer St. Bernard-de-Clairvaux, and The Rev. Eric Morin.  St. George’s, Vernon, All Saints’, Greely, Holy Trinity, Metcalfe, and The Rev. Kerri Brennan.  In our Companion Diocese of Jerusalem we pray for Christ Church Jerusalem.  For John our bishop, for all bishops, for Arran our Priest, and for all clergy and people.

People: For the victory of justice among the nations, and for the outpouring of the Spirit’s gift of peace, we pray to the Lord.

Leader: For the liberation of all oppressed and imprisoned, for the preaching of the liberating gospel, and for reconciliation of all who oppress and persecute others, we pray to the Lord.

People: For the healing of all who are gripped by despair and frustration, and for all who inspire them with hope and joy, we pray to the Lord.

Leader: For all in this community to be alive to the call of their baptism, for those to receive the sacrament of baptism, for our Church School, and for all who guide and teach along the way, we pray to the Lord.

People: For all who in their illness look to us for strength and healing in Christ, we pray to the Lord.

Leader: Within our Parish we pray for the sick and the suffering, especially (insert names), and for those we name silently or aloud (silence).  We remember those who have died, especially (insert names), and for those we name silently or aloud (silence). For all who have died in the expectation of Christ’s full victory in their life and death.

People: Loving God of our Lord Jesus Christ, as your favour comes upon us, enlighten us to see those who search for the victory of your love. Make of us your gracious servants, that the world may rest in your peace and sing your praises with full hearts and voices, through the same Jesus Christ, your Son and our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit is one God, this day and forever. Amen.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

ANNUAL VESTRY MEETING:  Our annual vestry meeting will be Sunday, February 23rd, following the 10 a.m. service.  We need volunteers to form a Nominations Committee to collect nominations for various volunteer positions, ensuring that nominees are willing to have their names put forward at the meeting.  This is a short-term commitment leading up to the meeting.  If you are able to assist in this capacity, please speak to Rev. Arran or contact the office at office@trinityottawa.ca or 613-733-7536.

OUT OF THE COLD DINNER VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Saturday, January 25th, volunteers are needed to help with set-up, prepare the dinner, register guests, serve dinner and clean up.  Shifts are between 2 and 3 hours between 2 pm and 7 pm.  Trinity has hosted this dinner at Southminster United Church on Aylmer Ave. for a number of years.  Please consider participating in this important outreach activity.  Volunteers of all ages welcome. No experience required. The sign-up sheet is in Bender Hall or call Judy Richardson at 613-730-7482. It is a rewarding experience.

GRAPEVINE JR. YOUTH GROUP: Next meeting is Saturday, January 18th, 6-8 p.m. at Ascension.  Potluck and Minister in the Hot Seat.  Grapevine is for youth aged 9-12.  Contact Kiersten office@trinityottawa.ca for more information.

FROSTY’S FAIR: We know it is a little early to be thinking about Frosty’s Fair for 2014!  However, this year we are planning on having a “Christmas Table“.  What better time than now to think about items for the table!   While decorating your home this year, you may discover some “New or Gently Used” decorations you no longer need.  Maybe you are “crafty” and know how to make Christmas ornaments/wreaths/etc.  Please put such items aside for the Christmas Table or bring them to Brenda Cheeseman.

Received items over the holidays you won’t use?  Please consider donating them to Nancy Bassam would like such items for either the Bazaar’s Silent Auction or Great Gifts Tables.  Small and large items are greatly appreciated.  We could also use your gently used gift bags.

We thank you for your continued support.

CHRISTMAS CARDS: Recycle your old cards! Bring them on a Sunday or leave them at the office for Brenda so she can make new cards for the bazaar.

WE NEED COFFEE VOLUNTEERS: If you can serve coffee one Sunday, please write your name on the schedule attached to the bulletin board beside the office.  If you do not know how to make the coffee and tea—never fear!  Brenda Small has provided easy to follow instructions and there are many seasoned Coffee Time volunteers who are willing to show you the ropes.

SENIOR’S LUNCHEON will take place Thursday, January 23rd from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the Canterbury Room. Enjoy a free lunch and fellowship.  For more information, contact Ruth Cochrane 613-890-2901 or Chris Garnett 613-737-1176.

MESSY CHURCH VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: On February 8th we are holding an active intergenerational worship service with arts and crafts, followed by a dinner.  We need volunteers for kitchen, set-up, take-down, craft stations, and registration.  If you are able to help, please see the sign-up sheet located downstairs beside the coffee sign-up sheet.  For more information, please contact the office or speak to Kiersten.
