The Communion

Music During Communion: Eat This Bread

Communion Hymn:  Your Blessings Overflow! (Tune DIX)

1. God, your blessings overflow! What can we begin to say?
How can we begin to show, All our gratitude this day?
God, we join to worship you, Giving thanks for all you do.

2. Thank you for the life you give, For each friend and family,
For the land in which we live, For your love that sets us free.
Thank you, God, for daily bread, And for feasts of joy you spread.

3. Yet at tables where we share, Sometimes there is also pain.
There may be an empty chair: When will we feel whole again?
When our days of grief are long, Thank you that your love is strong.

4. So we join in thanks this day, So your gifts we freely share,
So we follow Christ the Way, Loving, serving everywhere.
Spirit, may our lives express, All our daily thankfulness.

  • Nancy Bassam (613-731-5086) is collecting items for Attic Treasures.  Items should be clean and undamagedAlso needed are clean plastic bags (grocery or smaller) to package up those purchases!
  • Items for the Silent Auction and the Great Gifts Table.   We would like new or “gently” used goods.    Suggestions are collectables, unique items you no longer use, maybe something you have made or purchased.
  • Books for the “Book Nook”.   We are collecting fiction, non-fiction, kids books, CDs, DVDs.   Items should be in “good condition”.  More recent titles sell quickly!   Please no text books, encyclopaedias, computer manuals or magazines.
  • The Kids Table needs small toys in good condition.   Something new and exciting this year are “KIDDIE JARS”!   Not sure what a “KIDDIE JAR” is, see the samples at the back of the church today.   Take a jar home to fill, decorate and then bring as a donation!  Use your imagination! Let your creative juices flow! Fill with new or “gently used” trinkets that will excite your friends or little ones!  All we ask is no Halloween candy!
  • Baking, preserves, knitting, crafts, sewing.
