Collect of the Day

Eternal God,
you have ordained and constituted in a wonderful order
the ministries of angels and mortals.
Grant that as your holy angels stand before you in heaven,
so at your command
they may help and defend us here on earth;
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.

We Respond to God’s Word

Prayers of the People (Adapted from Susan Sayers)
In Christ we are chosen to be God’s holy people.

Leader: Let us pray to the God who can love sinners into saints. Let us pray for Christ Church, Aylmer and all who minister there. For the Diocesan Stewardship and Development Officer, Jane Scanlon. For volunteer university and college campus chaplains. For vocations to the priesthood and religious life. For the annual Diocesan Clergy Conference. We pray for Linda, our Primate, Anne, our Metropolitan, John, our Bishop, and Michael Bird, our assisting Bishop. For Arran, our priest and for all clergy and people and their ministries in the Diocese of Ottawa.

People: Thank you, Father, for the faithful prayers of so many over the generations; for the lifetimes of quiet godliness; for the struggles bravely borne and the witness of strong faith. (Silence)

Leader: Make us all:

People: worthy of our calling.

Leader: Thank you, Father, for all peace-makers and those who strive for justice and reconciliation; thank you for those who work to relieve suffering and manage the world’s resources more fairly. (Silence)

Leader: Make us all:

People: worthy of our calling.

Leader: Thank you for the blessing and hope of each new generation; for the richness of good friendships, the happiness of those in love, and the comfort of prayer support. (Silence)

Leader: Make us all:

People: worthy of our calling.

Leader: Thank you for the care and attention given to those in pain and ill health; for the example of those whom it is always a pleasure to visit, in spite of their suffering; for those who allow their suffering to be used for some good. At this time, we pray for (insert names) and for those who we name silently or aloud. (Silence).

Leader: Make us all:

People: worthy of our calling.

AS PART OF OUR CELEBRATION OF SAINT FRANCIS OF ASSISI and the blessing of the animals, Saturday October 5, 2019, from 9am until 2pm, Trinity will have our first ever dog wash fundraiser! We will provide clients with a little help and the supplies they need to spiff up their dog for $10. If the weather doesn’t cooperate, there will be lots to see and do downstairs anyway! The events downstairs will include a sale of homemade Thanksgiving treats for people and also a canine table of safe homemade treats, handmade dog coats, sweaters, fancy leashes, bandanas and costumes. We will have used books about pets for sale, as well as presentations by canine organizations and….balloon dog making by our new volunteer, Paige.  Please collect books about dogs…you can stretch that a bit to books that interest adults and kids who love dogs…. and deposit them in the box at the back of the church where you will find a list of help and donations needed. Please email Myrna at  to let her know how you are helping. We are thrilled to have a few offers of help from Carleton students. Please encourage your dog loving friends to show up for what should be a really fun event we expect to be very popular! We have just over a month to get crafting and baking. So, why a dog wash? We love all pets at Trinity, but we thought a cat wash would be…well… a little catastrophic.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS! Frosty’s Fair will be held on Saturday November 9th. We need bakers and cooks, Christmas decor and books, as well as silent auction donations and crafting creations! Remember to invite your friends and neighbours. If you know anyone who would like to help out, invite them too! Talk to Jen Small if you can help out: or 613-864-6575.

CELEBRATING 140 YEARS: On Saturday, October 19, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., we will mark Trinity’s presence for 140 years at Bank and Cameron with an afternoon of narration and music, followed by a reception. You’re welcome to wear hats/gloves from any era! Invitations are ready to be sent out, so please let Sally Clarke know the names of past parishioners you’ve remembered. You can either email Sally ( or leave a note in the envelope on the office door. It would be helpful if you could include the last address you have for invitees or at least the area in which they live. Pick up some invitations today to send to your family and friends. If you have photos or souvenirs from Trinity’s past (recent or distant), please share them with Bob or Sue Taylor or forward them to Further information is available from Judy Richardson or Lindsay Whillans.

SAVE THE DATE: We have a date to host Out of the Cold-Saturday, November 23rd. Further information to follow.

CENTRAL OTTAWA DEANERY PARISHES: A bereavement course will be held Tuesday afternoon 1:30 to 4 pm October 15, 22, 29 and November 12 at St. Thomas Alta Vista. Parishioners of Central Deanery churches are welcome to attend. The course leader will be Rita Myres, MSW, RSW. A registration fee of $40 is payable by October 1 to the course leader, Rita Myres, 204 Compton, Ottawa, K2B 5A9. For further information contact Wayne Kauk (
