We Respond to God’s Word

Prayers of the People (Adapted from Susan Sayers)
The continuing presence of God, as Holy Spirit, lead us, as Jesus promised, into a personally guided outreach to all nations.

Leader: Drawn by the Holy Spirit, we have arrived at this moment, when we can pray together for the Church and for the world. We pray for St. Bede’s Nolan’s Corners, The Reverend Dr. Ron Hunt. For all custodial staff serving within the parishes and ministries of the Diocese of Ottawa. For vocations to the priesthood and religious life. We pray for Fred, our Primate, Anne, our Metropolitan, John, our Bishop, and Michael Bird, our assisting Bishop. For Arran, our priest and for all clergy and people and their ministries in the Diocese of Ottawa.

People: Lord God, as members of your Church in this generation, we ask your guidance and blessing for all our deacons, priests and bishops, and all in training for lay and ordained ministry. As the people of God, we ask for the gifts we need for the work you need us to do. (Silence)

Leader: You are with us:

People: every step of the way.

Leader: Lord God, this fragile, vulnerable planet is so beautiful, and in such need of your guidance; we pray for a deeper valuing of our universe and of one another; for your kingdom to come on earth as in heaven.(Silence)

Leader: You are with us:

People: every step of the way.

Leader: Lord God, may our homes be centres of love, acceptance and welcome; we pray that you will make your home among us in each room and each relationship. (Silence)

Leader: You are with us:

People: every step of the way.

Leader: Lord God, we pray for all who are weighed down with doubts, fears and misgivings; all who are haunted by the past or scared by the future. We ask for them awareness of your constant presence and courage to place their hand in yours. At this time, we pray for (insert names) and for those who we name silently or aloud. (Silence)

Leader: You are with us:

People: every step of the way.

Leader: Lord God, as we remember those whose earthly life has come to an end, we pray that they, and we in our turn, may recognise you in heaven and live in your light forever. At this time, we pray for (insert names) and for those who we name silently or aloud.  (Silence).

Leader: You are with us:

People: every step of the way.

Leader: Lord God, we give you thanks for all the blessings you shower on us along the way of life, and for the painstaking guidance you provide. (Silence).

Leader: Merciful God,
Accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

God of Life and freedom, we celebrate the revelation of Jesus

as the Christ who makes all creation new.

Accept all we offer you this day

and make us new in him,

who is Lord for ever and ever.  Amen

Agnus Dei                                                                                                                  The Communion

Anthem: O Sing Joyfully by Adrian Batten

O sing joyfully unto God our strength; make a cheerful noise unto the God of Jacob. Take the song, bring hither the tabret, the merry harp with the lute. Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, even in the time appointed, and upon our solemn feast-day. For this was made a statute for Israel, and a law of the God of Jacob.

Prayer after Communion

Gracious God, lover of all,

by this sacrament

you make us one family in Christ your Son,

one in the sharing of his body and blood,

one in the communion of his Spirit.

Help us to grow in love for one another

and come to the full maturity of the Body of Christ.

We ask this in his name. Amen.
