The Prayers of the People

Leader: We pray for the Church throughout the world, and in our Diocese we pray today for St. Bede’s, Nolan’s Corners and St. Bartholomew’s, Ottawa.  In our Companion Diocese of Jerusalem we pray for The Home for the Elderly, Amman, Jordan.  For John our bishop, for all bishops, for Arran our Priest and for all the clergy and people. Like Martha, we have much to do; like Mary, we listen to the Lord’s voice.

People: From the complexity of our lives, let us raise our voices in prayer to the Lord.

Leader: Over the thunder of war, we hear the Lord’s call to peace, and we pray for wise leadership.

People: Amid the quarrels which divide the church, we hear the Lord’s call to unity, and we pray for reconciliation.

Leader: Above the barrage of commercials, we hear the Lord’s call to generosity, and we pray for the poor.

People: Through the bustle of our daily lives, we hear the Lord’s call to love, and we pray for patience with one another.

Leader: We pray for the sick and the suffering, especially (insert names), and those we name silently or aloud (pause).  We remember those who have died, especially (insert names), and those we name silently or aloud (pause).  In the cries of the suffering, we hear the Lord’s call to compassion,

People: and we pray for the sick and the suffering.

Leader: In the songs we raise together, we hear the Lord’s call to each of us, and we pray for one another.

People: Father of Jesus, hear our prayers. Hear in them the voice of your Son, your word of love to us. We listen for his voice as we pray in his name: Jesus Christ, Lord of heaven and earth forever. Amen.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

LET’S GET TO KNOW EACH OTHER! I would like to make appointments with members of the congregation to visit you at home, in your office, at the cottage, or take you out for coffee/tea.  You can contact the office, email me, phone me or make an appointment when we see each other at church.  Hope to visit with you soon!   Rev. Arran

PLEASE SAVE THE DATE! Frosty’s Fair will be held on Saturday, November 2nd from 9:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.  We need volunteers to set up on Friday evening and take down on Saturday.  We are also in need of people to work at the various tables on Saturday.  You don’t have to commit yourself for the entire weekend; just an hour or two of your time would be greatly appreciated.  Any items that you would like to “re-gift” or donate would be most welcome.  Please look for further details in the weekly bulletins in September.  If you have any questions or would like to volunteer to help out, please contact Brenda Cheeseman at 613-226-8305 or brenda.cheeseman08@gmail.com.

CHANGE FOR CHANGE: Don’t forget to drop all your spare change into the World Vision bucket at the back of the church. Check the scrapbook for the latest updates on Sheila, our World Vision child.
