Children and Youth Leader
We are hiring a Children and Youth Leader (part-time, contract) to renew our ministry with children, youth and their families.
As the Leader of Trinity’s Children and Youth Ministry, you will be a person of faith, guiding our children and youth in their exploration of what it means to be followers of Jesus in the context of our Trinity Anglican Church community.
The Children and Youth Leader will organize weekly Sunday gatherings for children and youth and facilitate a regular youth program. As Leader, you will be responsible for coordinating, preparing and leading Sunday learning for children ranging in age from 3 to 10 and youth from 11 to 17 during our regular Sunday 10 am morning worship service. You will recruit and support volunteers who will take turns leading these two age groups with you, based on the schedule that you will coordinate. You will liaise with parents, volunteers and church worship leaders to expand the children’s understanding of what it means to be part of Trinity’s faith community. You will look for ways to bring the children and youth into active participation in the regular worship services as they grow in their understanding of the Christian faith.
The Children and Youth Leader will also coordinate our youth program and create opportunities in addition to Sunday mornings for the older youth (11-17) to meet together socially and to engage in formation, mission and ministry. This may involve relationships with other youth groups of our Anglican diocese and with neighbouring churches and faith groups.
The Leader will work with the congregation and worship leaders of Trinity to foster the participation of the children and youth of the church in the parish and the wider community. They will support the families of the youth in their faith formation in the church and provide resources for the development of the family’s journey in faith at home.
We are looking for someone who is:
-Well-organized and responsible, an energetic self-starter who will engage with our neighbourhood and build our children and youth ministry.
- Relationship-oriented, who will build strong relationships with our children and youth, our volunteers and the broader Trinity and Ottawa South community.
- Able to communicate fluently, in person and using email and social media;
- An advocate for children and youth within our community.
- Someone who isn’t afraid to laugh and be silly with our children and youth – we want our children to have fun!
This is a part-time contract position of approximately 8 hours per week during the school year with reduced hours in the summer. Compensation will be $20/hour. A police record check will be required.
To apply, please send a resume and cover letter that describes how your experience relates to the qualities that we seek to firstname.lastname@example.org. Applications will be considered as they are received, and only successful applicants will be contacted. The position will start in August 2022.
