Sovereign God,

In loving community with one another.

 We Respond to God’s Word

Prayers of the People (Adapted from Susan Sayers)
Human beings are made responsible for the care of creation but are subject to God in all aspects of their lives.

Leader:  Let us come before God our Maker, making our prayers to him through Jesus and in the power of the Holy Spirit. Let us pray to him now for Christ Church, Ashton, The Reverend Canon John Bridges, The Reverend Kerri Brennan, The Reverend Ryan Boivin. For all clergy under the jurisdiction of the Bishop of Ottawa. For the provincial Synod of the ecclesiastical province of Ontario meeting in Ottawa this week. We pray for John, our bishop, Arran, our priest and for all clergy and people and their ministries in the Diocese of Ottawa.

People: We pray that the Church may be alive to God’s beckoning, quick to obey his will and always ready to act in his loving service for the good of the world. (Silence)

Leader: Lord of Heaven:

People: let your will be done.

Leader: We pray that all leaders and heads of state may take wise advice and act responsibly for the well-being of all. We pray for God’s guidance in the way we manage and care for this planet, its resources, riches and inhabitants. (Silence)

Leader: Lord of Heaven:

People: let your will be done.

Leader: We pray for all marriages, for those seeking marriage partners and those whose marriages are under strain. We pray for all in close relationships, that there may be mutual love and respect. (Silence)

Leader: Lord of Heaven:

People: let your will be done.

Leader: We pray for all who are suffering through illness, accident or deliberate cruelty; for refugees and all who are abused that through the caring of human hands they may experience the caring hands of God. At this time, we pray for (insert names) and for those who we name silently or aloud.  (Silence)

Leader: Lord of Heaven:

People: let your will be done.

Leader: We pray for all who have died violently or suddenly, or with none to miss them. May all who have died in faith be judged with mercy and welcomed into eternal life. At this time, we pray for (insert names) and for those who we name silently or aloud.  (Silence)

Leader: Lord of Heaven:

People: let your will be done.

Leader: We pour out our thanks and praise for the gift of life and the gift on one another. May we treat each other with renewed reverence.

Leader: Merciful God,
Accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: We are now looking for parishioners willing to contribute and be a part of Trinity’s ministries. It is an exciting time in the life of our community. Sally Clarke is stepping away from her role as Hospitality Coordinator as of the end of September. We are deeply grateful for the work she has done to ensure each of us has an experience of welcome through hospitality. Paul Merriam is stepping away from his role as People’s Warden. Paul also leaves his role as Treasurer. Paul has contributed to Trinity Church leadership in a remarkable way.

Please let us know if any of these roles reflect what God is calling you to do. Wardens: Heather Maclachlan, Susan Taylor, Lorna Feehan, or Paul Merriam, and Arran Thorpe welcome your interest and will be happy to answer your questions.

ALTAR GUILD:  There will be a brief meeting for all Altar Guild members next Sunday, October 14th, after church, in the Canterbury Room.  Anyone who is interested in joining the Altar Guild is also warmly invited.

NO SPECIAL VESTRY IN OCTOBER: At this time, we (Heather Maclachlan, Susan Taylor, Paul Merriam, Lorna Feehan, Judy Richardson, Myrna Rootham) believe a Special Vestry would simply be a matter of reporting on our progress rather than forming a motion to proceed. We continue to learn about opportunities, the nature of which, call us to discuss broad strokes rather than make any detailed decisions. Our financial position is pressing. We are acutely aware of the financial burden we face. However, with the blessing of the Bishop we continue to operate as Trinity Church.

We have had exploratory meetings with Ascension, St Matthews, and St Thomas Churches (as corporations). Everyone welcomes the opportunity to meet again to discuss how we collaborate in sharing ministry and worship in our communities that would meet everyone’s needs. We will be meeting with St John the Evangelist Church. There has been some discussion concerning the Caelis Choir and expanding the nature of their home at Trinity. We have also been approached by a property developer.

We encourage parishioners to attend Parish Council meetings (Tuesday’s October 9, November 13, and December 11 @ 6:30) for updates and a more fulsome discussion. Since the June Vestry, Parish Council has been informed of all meetings and conversations concerning these preliminary discussions.

Given the above, there will be no Special Vestry at this time.
