The Prayers of the People:

Leader: God, who nurtures us, is also God of power without end.

People: We call on this God of comfort and might to hear our prayer.

Leader: We pray for the Church throughout the world, and in our Diocese we pray today for the Retired Clergy of the Anglican Diocese of Ottawa, for the volunteers of Anglican Pastoral Care, Ottawa Hospital – Civic/General Campus, and for Indigenous Peoples: Inuit, Métis and First Nations. In our Companion Diocese of Jerusalem we pray for St. Luke’s Hospital, Nablus.  For John our bishop, for all bishops, for Arran our Priest and for all the clergy and people.

People: For the church, that the good news we spread always heed the physical and social needs of our listeners.

Leader: For leaders of nations, that they bring peace to their lands,

People: destroying the demons of poverty and inequity,

Leader: We pray for the sick and the suffering, especially (insert names), and those we name silently or aloud (pause).  We remember those who have died, especially (insert names), and those we name silently or aloud (pause).  For the dying among us,

People: that they be granted dignity and serenity as they await the comforting arms of their mothering God.

Leader: For people of all ages nearing breakdown,

People: that they glimpse Jerusalem’s hope, and that their hearts rejoice again.

Leader: God of glory and tenderness, engrave in us the images of your sacred stories.

People: Relieve us of our many burdens, and let our lives give honest testimony to your dominion, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
