Prayers of the People (adapted from Susan Sayers)
Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, through whom we can come into the presence of God forever.
Leader: As living stones, let us pray for the building up of God’s Church, and for the world God loves.
Leader: In our Diocesan calendar of prayer, we pray today for St. Paul’s, Combermere, Church of the Epiphany, Barry’s Bay, St. Anthony’s, Whitney, and the Rev. Darlene Cunliffe. For the Stewardship and Development Office and Jane Scanlon. In our Companion Diocese of Jerusalem, we pray today for St. Saviour’s Episcopal Church, Zerka. We pray for John, our bishop, Arran, our priest, and Allan, our honorary assistant. We pray for our guest preacher, Deacon Christine. We pray for all clergy and people.
People: Living God, our life is in your hands, and we offer you all that we are, all that our past has made us, and all that we may become. Build us up by the power of your Spirit into a spiritual temple where you are glorified day after day, in all our praise and worship, and in our love for one another. (Silence)
Leader: You are my strong rock:
People: my strong rock and my shelter.
Leader: Living God, our planet, with its frenzied life on its fragile skin, is unnervingly small and vulnerable to evil. Sharpen our consciences to sense your direction and protect us form all that draws us away from you. Guide our leaders in the way of truth and realign us all to the values which are built on you. (Silence)
Leader: You are my strong rock:
People: my strong rock and my shelter.
Leader: Living God, may the Way which Jesus shows us be the Way we live out our daily lives around the table, in the daylight and the dark, in the misunderstandings, the tensions and the rush, in the eye contact, the conversations, and the growing. (Silence)
Leader: You are my strong rock:
People: my strong rock and my shelter.
Leader: Living God, you can use and transform all our experiences. We lay before you now those who are travelling through a time of pain or anguish, tragedy or conflict which is hard to bear. We stand alongside them in their suffering, and offer it to your transforming, healing love. At this time, we pray for (insert names) and those we name silently or aloud. (Silence)
Leader: You are my strong rock:
People: my strong rock and my shelter.
Leader: Living God, we remember those who have died and pray for them now. Lead them out of their pain into the light of eternity, and keep us all in the Way that leads us to share that everlasting life with you. At this time, we pray for (insert names) and those we name silently or aloud. (Silence)
Leader: You are my strong rock:
People: my strong rock and my shelter.
Leader: Living God, we thank you for showing us the Way, in human terms that we find easier to understand. (Silence)
Leader: Merciful God,
People: accept these prayers in the name of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

Prayer over the Gifts
Blessed are you, O God,
ruler of heaven and earth.
Day by day you shower us with blessings.

give us glad and generous hearts,
ready to praise you and respond to those in need,
through Jesus Christ, our Saviour and Lord. Amen.

The Communion
Anthem : My Eyes for Beauty Pine by Herbert Howells
My eyes for beauty pine, My soul for Goddes grace;
No other care nor hope is mine, To heaven I turn my face.
One splendour thence is shed From all the stars above:
‘Tis named when God’s name is said, ‘Tis Love, ’tis heavenly Love
And every gentle heart That burns with true desire,
Is lit from eyes that mirror part Of that celestial fire.
Prayer after Communion
Life-giving God,
in the mystery of Christ’s resurrection
you send light to conquer darkness,
water to give new life,
and the bread of life to nourish your people.
Send us forth as witnesses to your Son’s resurrection,
so that we may show your glory to all the world,
through Jesus Christ, our risen Lord. Amen.
