SHARING OUR BLESSINGS THIS CHRISTMAS WITH
THE WOMEN OF CORNERSTONE

Dear friends at Trinity:

This Christmas season, as we reflect on how blessed we are to be living in warmth and security surrounded by love and friendship and God’s gracious gifts freely given to us, please consider giving to Cornerstone, an Ottawa Diocesan lead housing ministry for homeless women.

Cornerstone serves more than 500 women every year. They have more than 65 full and part-time staff and almost 300 extraordinary volunteers who provide on-site support and refer women to local resources. More than 140,000 nourishing meals are prepared and served every year.

Cornerstone strives to increase safe housing and to end homelessness. It maintains four residences in Ottawa that cater to women at every stage of their journey. At Cornerstone, women experience what ‘home’ truly means – often, for the first time in their lives.

‘At Cornerstone, we believe that all women deserve the chance to heal in peace, and to live with dignity’

HOW YOU CAN HELP

The items listed below are used very often at each of the Cornerstone residences. They might seem small, but they do so much to foster independence, promote healing, and bring joy to Cornerstone tenants. Your donation can be left in the shopping bag at the back of the church from now until Christmas.

Travel cup or new mug
Hats mitts, gloves and scarves
chocolate/candy/cookies
nail polish
stationary items like journals, writing paper, pens, markers
Activity books: word searches/mandalas/words
A Christmas decoration

Bus tickets

Long-distance calling cards

Craft Supplies, such as watercolor paper, construction paper, multi-use paper, acrylic paint, white glue, sharpie markers, clay

$5 or $10 Gift cards for grocery stores, pharmacies, Tim Horton’s, Giant Tiger, Subway etc.

Recreational items such as puzzles and craft items, knitting needles, yarn
Sox, and slippers
New toiletries, hair brushes
chapstick, face cream and hand cream
Thank you for considering Cornerstone this Christmas as a meaningful way to celebrate the meaning of the season.

Blessings to you and those you love.

If you want to learn more about Cornerstone check out an excellent video that is available on the Diocesan website. I was fortunate to hear representatives from Cornerstone at Synod this year and I found the video particularly informative and very inspiring. Check it out at: Cornerstonewomen.ca
