Collect of the Day

God of love,

Who asks no other sacrifice

Than to love you, the source of life,

And all creatures as ourselves:

Bind your law upon our hearts and our minds,

We Respond to God’s Word

Prayers of the People (Adapted from Susan Sayers)
Great is the rejoicing in heaven among the saints of God as they worship their Lord in glory.

Leader:  Let us still our bodies and open our hearts and minds to pray. We pray for All Saints’, Westboro, The Venerable Christopher Dunn, The Reverend Simone Hurkmans, Deacon Jarrett Carty, The Parish of the Valley All Saints’, Petawawa St. George’s, Alice, The Reverend Matthew Brown and The Reverend Susan Clifford, The Reverend Gillian Hoyer. For the staff of the Episcopal Office: The Right Reverend John H. Chapman, The Venerable David Selzer, and Heidi Pizzuto. We pray for Fred, our Primate, Anne, our Metropolitan, John, our Bishop, and Michael Bird, our assisting Bishop. For Arran, our priest and for all clergy and people and their ministries in the Diocese of Ottawa.

People: We pray for all the saints on earth, all those walking as friends of Jesus through the light and shadows of life, in grassy meadows and scaling bare rock; that we may all persevere with joy, supporting one another along the way. (Silence)

Leader: Not our will, Lord:

People: but yours be done.

Leader: We pray for all the kingdoms and nations of the earth, for their leaders and their people, their policies and needs, that under God’s overarching love they may learn his ways and his will. (Silence)

Leader: Not our will, Lord:

People: but yours be done.

Leader: We pray for those we love and care for and those who love and pray for us, for the wisdom to learn from all we experience in this life, so that we are not damaged, but rather grow from the difficult times. (Silence)

Leader: Not our will, Lord:

People: but yours be done.

Leader: We pray for those who are suffering and those too weak to pray; for all who are searching for life’s meaning and those who find it hard to believe they are loved and cherished by a living God. At this time, we pray for (insert names) and for those who we name silently or aloud.  (Silence)

Leader: Not our will, Lord:

People: but yours be done.

Leader: We pray for those who have died in faith, giving thanks for the shining lives of the saints, and asking that with them we may come to share in the endless joy of heaven. At this time, we pray for (insert names) and for those who we name silently or aloud.  (Silence)

Leader: Not our will, Lord:

People: but yours be done.

Leader: With thankfulness we celebrate the transforming love of God which can take us as we are and make us into what God can already see we could become.

Leader: Merciful God,
Accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.
