The Prayers of the People

Leader: Jesus said that the signs of God’s dominion were to be seen in the healing of the sick, the raising of the dead to new life, and the preaching of good news to the poor.

People: Let us pray that our lives may be the instruments of God’s work in the world.

Leader: We thank you, God, for the gift of creation.

People: Grant that we who bear your image may be faithful stewards of your gift and administer its bounty with wisdom for the good of all your creatures.

Leader: We thank you that you have called us to be your people.

People: Give us patience as we await your coming, and grant us wisdom to discern your will in our daily lives, that each of us may serve others for the building up of our common life.

Leader: For the Church throughout the world, for those named in the Anglican Cycle of Prayer, in our Diocesan Prayer Calendar, and in our Parish Prayer Calendar we pray today for St. John the Baptist, Richmond and The Rev. Michel Dubord.  For the Canon Theologian, The Rev. Canon Dr. John Gibaut.  We pray for Hospital and Nursing home ministries.  In our Companion Diocese, the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem, we pray today for the Medical Ministry at The Palestine Hospital, Amman, Jordan.  For John our bishop, for all bishops, for Arran our Priest and for all clergy and people.

People: We thank you for the community of faith throughout the world. Strengthen your church as it witnesses to your love.

Leader: Guide us in the fulfillment of your mission, that all may be one.

People: We thank you for the privilege of ministering to others.

Leader: Within our Parish we pray for the sick and the suffering, especially (insert names), and for those we name silently or aloud (silence).  We remember those who have died, especially (insert names), and for those we name silently or aloud (silence). Grant us the grace to accept suffering with patience and to be strengthened by our common life in the body of Christ.

People: We thank you for your countless gifts.

Leader: Above all, we thank you for the coming of our Savior Jesus Christ, and for our unity in him through baptism.

People: We offer our thanksgiving and prayers to you, the one God and the source of light and life, now and forever. Amen.

2014 ENVELOPES ARE IN!  Please pick up your 2014 offering envelopes at the back of the sanctuary.  If you do not have envelopes and would like some, please contact the office at 613-733-7536 or , or you can fill out a Trinity Request Form, located at the back of the sanctuary where you pick up the bulletin and place it in the offering plate or drop it in the office.

PAUSE TABLE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: It’s exam time again and students need our help!  Trinity will be co-hosting the Carleton Ecumenical Chaplaincy’s Pause Table on December 17th. Last December, the Pause Table served over a thousand students daily, providing healthy snacks, comfort food, juice, coffee and pastoral support at a time when most students are running low on funds and energy.  If you would like to donate goodies, or volunteer to take a turn at the table (times between 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.) please call Yvonne Silverman (613-733-5901).  We are looking for food donations such as hard boiled eggs, muffins, bagels, single serving cheese, yogurt cups, fruit—any easy grab & go foods.  Yvonne is buying food on Monday, so please contact her by the end of today.

COLONEL BY RESIDENCE CHRISTMAS EUCHARIST VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Rev. Arran and Victoria will be leading a Christmas Eucharist, the morning of December 18th, and are looking for a volunteer choir to lead a carol sing.  If you are interested, please speak to Rev. Arran.

JOIN THE CHOIR FOR CHRISTMAS! Would you like to join the choir, but don’t feel you can commit to singing every Sunday? Why not join us for the Christmas season? We’ll be having choir practices at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday evenings throughout the month of December, and the adult choir will sing at both the 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. services on Christmas Eve. Please contact Victoria with questions or for more information.

WHILE WE WAIT ADVENT STUDY: Weekly following the 10 a.m. service.  How we wait affects our experience of God in our daily lives. This year’s Advent Reflection series will guide us in our Advent waiting through Biblical reflections, journaling, activities and prayer.  Each week we will have an Advent Bible study that starts after church with a light lunch and then short reflections. Week one is Be Watchful!  Week two is Watch for the Messiah! Week three is The Light has Come! Week for is God is With Us!  You can come to one or all four Bible Studies.  It is free to join, no Bible knowledge necessary. There is a sign-up sheet in the back for participants and for volunteers to provide food and set-up/clean-up.

CHILDREN’S CHRISTMAS EVE CHOIR: practice today is directly following the service for 10 minutes. Speak to Victoria or Kiersten for more information.

COMMUNITY CAROL SING: TODAY at 4 p.m. Advent and Christmas carols for everyone! Tell all your friends, and join us for what promises to be a wonderful time.

CHRISTMAS MEMORIAL FLOWER LIST: Anyone wishing to give a donation or memorial gift towards the Christmas flowers in the church is as ked to do so BEFORE Tuesday, December 18th so that the names of those to be remembered will appear in the back of the Christmas bulletins.  Please look through the list at the back of the church of names of those to be remembered.  Indicate whether you are adding new names, repeating/changing last year’s names as printed or deleting names from the list.  Envelopes are available at the back of the church for your donation, and may be placed on the offering plate.

CHANGE TO OFFERATORY PRACTICE: Earlier this month, we started to once again pass the Offertory plate during the service. During the Offertory hymn, fellow parishioners will be facilitating the passing of our plate to every attendee so they have an opportunity to offer their thanks for the many gifts the Lord has bestowed. Those who do not participate in pre-authorized giving will have the opportunity to place their gifts on the plate.  Those who give through pre-authorized contributions can pick up a PAC card with your bulletin at the back table every week to place in the offering plate.

THANK YOU FROM THE BAKE SALE LADIES: Isabel MacFarlane and Trinity teens who participated express their huge thanks to everyone who participated in the bake sale.  The sale raised $135 towards the Red Cross Typhoon Haiyan disaster relief efforts.

THANKSGIVING AND CELEBRATION OF LIFE SERVICE FOR ALAN WINSHIP: A service of celebration and thanksgiving for Alan Winship`s life will take place on Saturday January 4th, at 2 pm, followed by a tea and social here at Trinity.  All welcome.

OUT OF THE COLD DINNER VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Saturday, January 25th, volunteers are needed to help with set-up, prepare the dinner, register guests, serve dinner and clean up.  Shifts are between 2 and 3 hours between 2 pm and 7 pm.  Trinity has hosted this dinner at Southminster United Church on Aylmer Ave. for a number of years.  Please consider participating in this important outreach activity.  Volunteers of all ages welcome. No experience required. The sign-up sheet is in Bender Hall or call Judy Richardson at 613-730-7482. It is a rewarding experience.
