The Prayers of the People
Leader: Let us pray for the church and for the world, that all people may shine with the radiance of Christ. In our own diocese, let us pray for the parishes of Christ Church, Ashton, and Trinity, Cornwall. In our companion diocese of Jerusalem, we pray for Christ Church, Jerusalem, The Penman Clinic, Zebabdeh, and St. George’s School in Jerusalem. For John our bishop, for all bishops, for Andrea our Priest and for all the clergy and people. Holy God, we pray for all your people, baptized in the name of Christ. Heal our divisions, and give us one mind in Christ.
People: Stir up your church to make the power of the cross known to all, that people everywhere may see your great light.
Leader: Lift from all people the burdens of poverty, war and injustice. Break every rod of oppression throughout the earth.
People: Guide those who make and execute our laws, and those who maintain our safety, that all people may know their worth as your creation.
Leader: Strengthen us to care for the poor, the imprisoned, and all who suffer. Open our hands and our hearts to embrace all who are in need. Within our Parish we pray for the sick and the suffering, especially (insert names), and for those we name silently or aloud (silence). We remember before you all whom we love but see no more. We remember those who have died, especially (insert names), for those we name silently or aloud (silence). Give them eternal rest.
People: O God, you revealed your will to prophets and sages. By your Holy Spirit, show us how to serve you today, that all nations may know you in our love, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
