The Prayers of the People

Leader:    Confident that in the Son’s teaching and through the Spirit’s leading we shall be heard, let us lift hearts and voices to God.  Let us pray for the Church throughout the world, particularly The Church in the Province of the West Indies; in our own diocese, for St. Margaret’s, Vanier; for St. Vincent and Elizabeth Bruyere Hospitals and extended care chaplains; and for those in our diocese living under religious vows.  For the needs of the whole Church that we name silently or aloud (silence).   For John our bishop, for all bishops, for Andrea our Priest and for all the clergy and people.

People:   O God, ever promising healing to your people, hold out your hands to us, and hear our common prayers.

Leader:    For courage to pray, calling out day and night for all that you have promised, O Lord.

People:   For diligence in reading your word, and for the whole church as we ponder the inspiration you granted to those who have gone before us, that we may understand your message to us, O Lord.

Leader:    For boldness to speak your word humbly to others, for constancy and courage, and for all to whom we speak, we pray to you O Lord.

People:   For your love in us, that you may use our hands and our hearts to carry your love to others, we pray to you O Lord.

Leader:    We pray for those who are sick or suffering (insert names), and for those we name silently or aloud (silence).  We remember those who have died, especially (insert names) and those we name silently or aloud (silence).  For your warmth and strength and power for all in any need.

People:   For those whose names and faces fill our days and nights that we may always give thanks for their lives, and that we live in fervent expectation of joy together with them in your house forever.  Hear these words, O Lord, as you hear and understand the unspoken thoughts of our hearts and minds, and grant their fulfillment through Christ our Lord. Amen.
